Terms of Use

The rules for using Spotra.

Updated 20 October 2026

  • You must be 13 or older, and you are responsible for all activity on your account.
  • Never use Spotra while driving. Photograph cars safely, legally and with respect for others.
  • Cards, collectibles, usernames and Bank money are game items with no real-world value.
  • We may remove content or close accounts that break these terms.

This summary is for convenience. The full text below is what applies.

These Terms of Use form an agreement between you and Spotra for your use of the Spotra website and the Spotra app for iPhone (together, “Spotra”). By creating an account or using Spotra, you accept these terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not accept them, please do not use Spotra.

Where the app is downloaded from the App Store, Apple’s standard licence terms for apps also apply. Apple is not responsible for Spotra or its content.

Scanning and cards

When you photograph a car, Spotra identifies it and adds it to your garage as a card. Each photo uses one scan. Free accounts receive 20 scans each month; memberships and scan credits provide more. Unused monthly scans do not carry over.

Every card is graded Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary or Exotic. The grade sets the card’s XP (from 10 for a Common to 10,000 for an Exotic), its value in the game and its appearance.

Your garage and profile

Your cards are kept in your garage, which you can sort, arrange and display on your profile. XP raises your level. Changing how a card’s photo looks, and wearing your collectibles on a card as charms, is free. Restyling a card’s colour, finish, border or glow uses one customisation credit.

The Bank and the market

  • Bank: your balance of in-game money. Catches and sales are paid into it.
  • Market: cards, usernames and collectibles can be sold at a fixed price or by auction to other players, for in-game money only.
  • Collectibles: numbered items that can be bought, won, shown on your profile and sold. Each design is made in a fixed number.
  • Crates: each crate awards one random prize, and the chance of every prize is shown before you open it. Limited crates are available only until their end date, and their items cannot be obtained any other way.

Playing with others

Leaderboards rank players worldwide, by city, among friends and by crew, and a player’s position earns a rank badge. Crews compete together, Quests set weekly goals, Collections reward completed sets with badges, and Rivals lets you race your own earlier progress. Car Meet chat, comments, events and reviews are shared spaces; direct messages are private between the people in them.

Changes to the game

Spotra is developed continually. Features, grades, values and limits may be added, changed or removed, and significant changes are announced on the Updates page.

  • Eligibility: you must be 13 or older. If you are under 18, please make sure a parent or guardian is comfortable with you using Spotra. Accounts belonging to children under 13 are deleted.
  • One account: each person may hold one account, and each email inbox may be used for one account. Sign-up accepts common email providers only. Running additional accounts for an advantage is not permitted.
  • Usernames: 1 to 10 characters, using letters, numbers and underscores, beginning and ending with a letter or number. A username must not impersonate another person, including Spotra staff, or break the community standards. After you change your username, the previous one is held for 7 days before anyone else may take it.
  • Security: keep your password private. You are responsible for all activity on your account.
  • Deletion: you may delete your account at any time from Settings. Deletion is permanent and removes your cards, photos and history.

Never use Spotra while driving. Take photos from the footpath, a car park or the passenger seat, and only where it is safe and lawful to do so. No card is worth a risk on the road.

  • Do not trespass, enter restricted areas or touch anyone's vehicle.
  • Do not follow, approach or pressure drivers or owners for a photo.
  • Keep people out of your photos, and remove a photo if someone asks.
  • Follow the law and any direction from property owners, event organisers and police.

You keep ownership of the photos you take and everything you write. By posting content on Spotra, you grant Spotra a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display and adapt it (for example, cropping a photo to fit a card) in order to operate, promote and improve Spotra. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies other players already hold through the game, such as a card they have bought, and short-term backups.

Only scan photos that you took yourself, of real cars that you saw. Screenshots, photos of screens or prints, and images from other sources are not valid catches and will be removed. You are responsible for ensuring your content does not infringe anyone else’s rights.

In usernames, profiles, crew names, comments, messages, chat, reviews and photos, you must not post or send:

  • harassment, bullying or threats, or content that targets a person or group for who they are;
  • hate speech, slurs, or sexual, violent or graphic content;
  • other people's personal information, including addresses, phone numbers or number plates linked to an owner;
  • spam, scams, advertising, or harmful or unrelated links;
  • anything unlawful, or anything that encourages dangerous driving.

Any player or content can be reported, and any player can be blocked. Staff review reports and act on them, and automated filters stop some content before it is posted.

To keep the leaderboards and the market fair, you must not:

  • scan fake, edited, copied or borrowed photos;
  • use bots, scripts, emulators or any automation to scan, buy, bid or claim;
  • use more than one account, or move value between accounts through the market;
  • exploit bugs for XP, money, cards or credits (please report them through Support instead);
  • buy, sell or trade Spotra accounts, usernames, cards, collectibles or Bank money for real money.

Anything gained through cheating may be removed, including cards, XP, money and leaderboard positions.

Cards, collectibles, usernames, XP, levels, badges, garage worth, Bank money and prices are features of the game. They are licensed to you for use within Spotra, have no real-world value, and cannot be withdrawn, exchanged for money or transferred outside Spotra’s own market.

A card’s value is a figure for the game, not a valuation of a real vehicle. We may rebalance grades, values, rewards and prices, or correct errors, to keep the game fair, and this may change what your items are worth in the game.

Paid features (Premium, Elite and Legend memberships, scan credits, customisation credits and Verified) are offered only as in-app purchases in the iPhone app. The website does not accept payments.

  • Payments and refundsare handled by Apple under Apple’s terms. We never see your card details, and refund requests are made to Apple.
  • Memberships renew monthly until cancelled in your Apple ID settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal; access continues until the end of the current period.
  • Credits are used up when spent and are not refundable once used.
  • Verified is a one-time purchase that confirms your identity to other players. It may be removed if misused.

Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Cars are identified automatically from your photos. Identification is accurate most of the time but not always: a card’s make, model, generation, grade and value are an estimate, not a confirmed fact. Staff may correct a card, and a scan may be declined if the photo does not clearly show a real car.

The Spotra name, logo, card designs, badges, collectibles, app, code and written content belong to Spotra and its licensors. You may not copy, sell or build on them, or scrape Spotra, without written permission.

Car makes, models and logos belong to their respective owners. Spotra is an independent game and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any vehicle manufacturer.

If content or conduct breaks these terms, we may remove the content, restrict features, reverse anything gained unfairly, or suspend or permanently close the account. We will explain our decision where we can, but may act without notice where other players or Spotra are at risk. If you believe a decision is wrong, open a ticket in Support.

You may stop using Spotra at any time. If Spotra is ever discontinued, we will give as much notice as is reasonably possible.

Spotra is provided “as is” and “as available”. We work to keep it running and accurate, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, free of errors, or that every identification will be correct.

To the extent permitted by law, Spotra is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for the loss of game items or progress, or for anything that happens while you are spotting. Our total liability for any claim relating to Spotra is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before the claim.

Certain guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law cannot be excluded. Where they apply, our liability is limited to supplying the service again or paying the cost of having it supplied again, where the law permits.

When these terms change, the date at the top of this page is updated, and significant changes are announced in the app or on the Updates page. Continuing to use Spotra after a change means you accept the updated terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of Australia, and any dispute will be resolved by the courts of Australia.

For questions about these terms, open a ticket in Support in the app.
